SSL is looking for a Business Development person. The role is part-time evolving to full time:
- business partnering
- applying for development projects
- managing projects
- business administration

An ideal person would have:
- relevant technical background
- industry experience
- MBA-like qualification or studying for one
- strong desire to be involved in an early stage technology venture
- zeal and ambition
- desire to be an apprentice entrepreneur ie trained by us to lead an enterprise; occasionally being thrown in at the deep-end
Quality Manager
SSL is looking for a Quality Manager. The primary responsibility will be ensuring the company’s products and services meet rigorous pre-defined quality standards. The role is part-time and is for an independent person/contractor with expertise in:
- Implementing quality systems
- Monitoring quality improvements
- Documenting, measuring and recording quality performance and compare versus pre-defined targets
- Inspecting, sampling and testing the development and production process
- Acting as Quality Manager within the organization
- Teach Others about Quality
An ideal person would have:
- Relevant technical background
- Industry experience within MoD
- Quality-specific accreditation
- Strong desire to be involved in an early stage technology venture
Test Manager
SSL is looking for a Test manager to oversee test strategy, master/detailed test plans, stakeholder management, resource planning and test scheduling across the full testing life cycle. Identifying and resolving testing issues and quality assurance are also part of the day to day responsibilities. The role is for an independent person/contractor with expertise in:
- Risk reduction during new product development through environmental testing
- Scientific testing to determine optimum solutions
- Best practice in testing and test documentation and knowledge of Test Tools and equipment
- Determining the right level of testing
- Analysis of test results to diagnose the source of failure and feed back into design
- Considerable technical proficiency
- Hands-on experience of sourcing, selecting, commissioning test equipment
- Outsourcing to Test-houses
Operations Manager
SSL is looking to recruit an operations manager to build up and manage supply chain operations for innovative new product families. Manufacturing is 100% outsourced. The role is for an independent person/contractor with experience and expertise in:
- Developing and organising new supply chain operations
- Managing sub-contractor manufacturing partners
- Technically understanding capability/process issues and solving technical, communication and organisation issues within the Supply chain
- Representing ‘design for manufacture’ in the design cycle
- Degree/equivalent or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline
- Familiar with Quality Management Systems standards
Test Engineer
SSL are currently recruiting for a test engineer to undertake scientific and environmental tests. Experience in testing systems with electronic, electrical, mechanical and fluid technologies with a variety of scientific and environmental test equipment is a distinct advantage. Experience as a technican is highly valued. You will report to the Test Manager.
