Mobile Robotics Engineers [Mar 09]

SSL is looking for one experienced full time and at least two part-time Mobile Robotics Engineers. The areas we ideally need to strengthen are:

• Probabilistic robotics (SLAM, Kalman filters, sensor fusion)
• Navigation (Kalman filters, absolute and relative sensor input, optical flow, dead reckoning)
• Sense and avoid
• Autonomy
• Synthetic environments, Range image processing
• Mobile Robotics application software
• Platform and Sensors (MAVs, helicopters, quadrotors, EO-IR)
• Mobile Robotics experience
• Mechatronics (Electronics, Firmware, Mechanics, Interfacing, Brushless motors and controls, Wireless comms, navigation sensors including GPS)
• 3D cameras

We expect that we will cover these areas with two or three people. The full-time person will be based in Central London, unless they have a working base of their own somewhere in the UK. The part-time people are likely to be doing Masters, Doctoral or Post-Doc work at a University in the UK and either looking for a research project sponsor or wishing to do commercial work in their free time.

SSL is looking for a Business Development person. The role is part-time evolving to full time:

• business partnering
• applying for development projects
• managing projects
• business administration
• market analysis

an ideal person would have:

• relevant technical background
• industry experience
• MBA-like qualification or studying for one
• strong desire to be involved in an early stage technology venture
• entrepreneurial zeal and ambition.
